Olivia Comai is an interdisciplinary artist who works with puppets, print media, and performance. She subverts popular media structures, harnessing the seductiveness of humor to make obscure concepts understandable to any audience member. She asks the viewer to reexamine their critiques of high art through satire. Comai's deadpan persona becomes the host for her puppets and props. Even if that means acting as the provocateur in public performance, her main goal is entertaining the viewer above self satisfaction. 

 

Comai recently earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently works as an artist and puppeteer at the Cabinet of Curiosity, and is an Emerging Teaching Artist at Marwen, a youth art center in Chicago.
